Does Assure Connect™ determine the caller’s location?
When called from a mobile phone, there is no locating system. This is a feature that will be added to Assure Connect™ in the future. When called from a fixed line phone; emergency services can see the caller’s phone number and can use this to determine their location.

What if I have a silent (unlisted) number?
You can retain your privacy and still use Assure Connect™ by prefixing the Assure Connect™ speed dial number with 1842. This will transmit the telephone number to Assure Connect™ on a call-by-call basis. However, check with your network provider; a small number of network providers do not support this feature.

Helpful hints - How to get the most out of Assure Connect™

SET-UP THE 5 KEY AS A SPEED DIAL
To make it quick and simple for the USER to call for help using Assure Connect™, program the Assure Connect™ number into their telephone. It is recommended that you set-up the 5 key as the Assure Connect™ speed dial. The 5 key on most phones has a little bump so that it can be found easily by touch.

Why is there a both a landline number and a mobile number?
Although only one is needed, Assure Connect™ can recognise a call from a USER’s mobile or landline. This may be useful if the USER doesn’t always keep their mobile handy while at home. However you may choose to enter only one number. There is no additional cost for including both.

Telstra’s Delayed Hotline service
This is a handy hint. Telstra offers a special feature for fixed line phones called Delayed Hotline. Fixed line phones that have this service activated will dial a pre-programmed number after the phone is taken off-hook for more than 4 seconds. By programming Assure Connect™ as the designated number a distressed person seeking help can simply pick-up their phone and wait. Assure Connect™ will then dial their Guardians thus putting in place an emergency assistance plan.

Forming a “Guardian Ring”
A group of friends and/or relatives might agree to all be available to act as each others Guardians. This can be achieved by setting-up individual accounts. It can also be achieved via a Premium Assure Connect™ account and simply making all of the USERS the same as the Guardians. Up to 9 people can participate in a Guardian Ring.

When a USER calls for help via Assure Connect™ all Guardians receive a courtesy SMS telling them which USER made the call and which Guardian answered.

Conference key pad number
Each Guardian can be designated a number 1 to 9. During a Assure Connect™ call it is possible to call another Guardian by simply pressing their number on the telephone keypad. When they answer they will be added to the conversation.

Using the * key during a call
While a USER is talking to the Guardian, the Guardian can press the * (star) key on their phone which will cause the remainder of the Guardians to be called simultaneously; the first to answer will be added to the conversation.

Inform the Guardians
As soon as you have set-up the Guardian Group you should contact them and explain how the system works. It is important that they are thoroughly briefed so that they understand how the system operates.

Set-up the GUARDIAN’s phones
To make it easier for Guardian’s to recognise a call from Assure Connect™, add the following number as a contact in their phone’s address book 03 8648 8820 with the name Assure Connect™. That way Assure Connect™ will be displayed when your USER makes an Assure Connect™ call.

Priority Group (PREMIUM version only)
Sometimes you may wish to prioritise which Guardians are called first, second, and last. The premium version allows you to select in what order Guardians are called. Select a priority group to indicate the order in which Guardians are contacted. Assure Connect™ calls group A first. If no Guardians from group A answer, group B is tried and then group C.
Group X people are not contacted at all, but are available to receive messages and conference calls.
